Only just getting around to posting this, after a hectic week preparing for some time away.
I stopped in to drop off some framed work and meet the lovely Deborah Digby @fillingdonfineart near High Wycombe last week. This is one of a series of pieces by the Zimbabwean artist Sarah Pratt @pratt2516, who now lives in the beautiful Gwaun Valley just over the hill from us here in West Wales.
Deborah's summer exhibition "Flora, Fauna & Folk" opens on 9th July. More details on her feed and at www.fillingdon.com
I was fortunate to have a sneak preview of some of the work and will definitely be returning on my next trip east.

This poster from Merthyr, late C.19th-early C.20th

This poster from Merthyr, late C.19th-early C.20th was in surprisingly good condition, the colours still so vivid. After a few minor repairs, we close framed it in a natural Oak with Conservation Clear glass with a 99%UV filter. The customer is thrilled to have a piece of local history from her home town in her new home here in West Wales.

Sometimes a piece arrives in such a sad state. A broken frame, missing glass and a mount with a brown bevel and foxing. It's actually exciting to see the potential in giving it a fresh start.
We gave it a sand cotton rag mount with a V groove and a gilded frame, simple but elegant.
I'm really happy with this one!

First day back after our break coincides with Stor

First day back after our break coincides with Storm Franklin 🙄 (aka Gales 3.0). We're going to have the closed sign up tomorrow and crack on with some work, as long as the power stays on!
Stay safe everyone, I'm sure we'll all be relieved when it snows on Thursday!!

This very large beachscape appliqué is ready and

This very large beachscape appliqué is ready and the customer is very excited to see her work finally framed! It has been laced onto 100% cotton rag board, as per Fine Art Trade Guild standards. The rebate has been lined with a conservation barrier tape and it was finished with a conservation backing board, so that nothing coming into contact with the work can do damage in the future. Oh and the customer chose our 70%UV protection anti-reflection glass, everybody loves to see the detail!

Just to prove that I do leave the studio sometimes. A Sunday afternoon exploring the rockfaces at Newport Parrog, only so easily accessible when the tide is this low. Nice to leave the normal behind and find some wonder, long overdue..
